I never had the opportunity to meet my maternal grandmother, Mary Ruth. But I know her through my mother.

Mary Ruth taught my mother how to sew. Years later, my mother passed that gift on to me. Through the time my mother and I spend creating together—the fabric, the stitches, the conversations, and the work of our hands—I feel connected to a woman I never had the chance to know.

The Mary Ruth Collection is my thank-you letter to her.

A thank you for teaching my mother.

A thank you for passing down a skill that eventually became part of my own creative language.

And a thank you for leaving something behind that could travel from one generation to the next.

Every Mary Ruth bag represents more than what we make. For me, it represents legacy, connection, creativity, and the things women pass down to one another—sometimes without ever knowing how far their influence will travel.

Mary Ruth began the stitch.
